why monstruo de agua?
Our brewery name is inspired by the axolotl, an amphibian indigenous to the Valley of Mexico. Axolotl is Mexican slang derived from Nahuatl (the Aztec language), and literally translates as “water monster.”
our story
Cervecería Monstruo de Agua is a branch of The Colectivo Axolote, a platform founded in 2013 by an interdisciplinary group of friends. Our objective was and still remains to collaborate, jumpstart , and support each member’s personal dreams and projects.
sustainability
One of our priorities is to promote sustainability through the empowerment and capacity building of Mexican farmers.
The axolotl as our symbol, is our reminder of the impermanence of life and the significance of our dedication to the environment and the country that has given us so much.
